With a degree in nutritional medicine, Maria Bez aims to identify root causes for your symptoms and treat them with nutrition…

Hormone testing including...
Adrenal stress test - this is a saliva test used to identify the exact state of an individual’s adrenal hormones (stress hormones).

Female hormone panel

This measures levels of progesterone and oestrogen by saliva samples taken throughout the cycle. It can be useful for women suffering from hormonal problems.

Thyroid screening
This test can determine whether the thyroid gland is working properly and identify an under or overactive thyroid. This can help with a wide range of symptoms ranging from depression and fatigue to weight gain and hair loss.

Metabolic screening including...
homocysteine testing – measures a key risk factor for heart disease.

Osteoporosis risk assessment
A urine test that measures a key marker for bone reabsorption and can thus identify risk categories for developing osteoporosis.

Vitamin and mineral testing including...
hair mineral analysis – a hair sample is
used to measure nutrient status as well as identifying toxic metals.

Vitamin profile
A blood test that measures deficiencies of vitamins A, E, beta carotene and CoQ10.

Toxic metals
A blood test that measures toxic exposures
of aluminium, arsenic, cadmium, lead and mercury.

LiverCheck
Asseses liver function. Alcohol, obesity, diabetes, hepatitis and drugs can all cause liver disease.

My training enables me to identify the
root causes of your symptoms and I, therefore, rarely use tests. However,
in some cases it may be necessary to investigate a particular health issue
further via a specific biochemical test.
The results will then be interpreted by me, and the results explained to you in full at your next consultation. I can apply the results to your programme, advising you
of any amendments or changes.

Tests are available in the
following areas:

Allergy and intolerance
testing including..
.

Food allergy and intolerance screening - This is a blood test that detects foods that trigger a type ‘A’ response (classical allergy, when a reaction occurs immediately after eating) and a type ‘B’ response (delayed allergy or intolerance, when a reaction occurs up to 72 hours later).

Inhalant allergy screening
Allergy test for anyone with asthma, eczema and recurrent childhood infections.

Antibody profiles including...
Gluten test – raised levels of gluten-specific antibodies and other markers can indicate coeliac disease or gluten sensitivity, that can present many digestive symptoms.

Candida albicans test
This test can indicate the overgrowth of
a yeast that is naturally present in the digestive tract.
